Yunlan Geisha YL002 | China, Yunnan

What is this coffee
Born in Panama and carefully cultivated in the soil of Yunnan, this Geisha spent four years maturing before yielding its first crop.
Where it comes from
Grown at Yunlan Estate in Yunnan, China—on high-altitude plots surrounded by subtropical air and rich volcanic soil.
Why it’s unique
Mr. Zhang of Yunlan has managed to preserve the beauty and complexity of tropical soil through meticulous cultivation and a refined honey process.
This is from the 2024 harvest, with a total yield of just 1000kg—and we’re humbled to have a bit of it in our hands.
How we met this coffee
Our first encounter with Asian coffees was at Hungry Bird, Bali—where we discovered the tropical, humid character of Indonesian beans.
Then came Origin Coffee Roasters in London, who shared a lineup of Asian coffees at a tasting last fall—China, Taiwan, Malaysia.
But it was at Calico Coffee where we first tasted this exact lot—and were struck by its winey texture and orange zest brightness.
It was also the first coffee we ever roasted. The first one that made me say “wow.”
My personal favorite. — Arina
We met Yun Dian, the importer, at London Coffee Festival this year—and the story felt complete.
